Product overview
Morbi in Gujarat is one of the world's largest tile clusters. It accounts for an estimated 80-90% of India's ceramic exports (about Rs 15,000 crore in 2024-25 per state government data via PTI, tier 5), with around 1,200 units. Exports leave mainly through Mundra.
The range covers glazed vitrified (GVT/PGVT) in 600x600, 600x1200 and 800x1600 mm, large slabs up to 1200x2400 mm, double-charge and soluble-salt vitrified, ceramic wall tiles, outdoor 20 mm pavers and digital-printed designs.
Trade defence matters: the EU applies anti-dumping duties on Indian ceramic tiles (Reg. 2023/265, company-specific rates), and the GCC has applied anti-dumping duties since 2020, reportedly extended in 2026. Check the producer-specific rate before quoting.
HS note: Tiles with water absorption > 0.5% to ≤ 10% go under 6907.22; > 10% (wall tiles) under 6907.23; mosaics 6907.30/6907.40.

Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between vitrified and ceramic tiles?
Vitrified/porcelain tiles have water absorption of 0.5% or less, so they are dense and strong for floors. Ceramic wall tiles are more porous and lighter.
Do EU anti-dumping duties apply?
Yes. Indian ceramic tiles carry producer-specific EU anti-dumping duties, so the rate depends on the factory.
What is GVT/PGVT?
Glazed vitrified tiles, and polished glazed vitrified tiles, both with digitally printed designs.
Can I mix designs in one container?
Yes, usually several designs and sizes per 20' container.
How many square metres fit in a 20'?
Roughly 1,200-1,400 m² of 600x600x9 mm tiles (ESTIMATED, weight-limited).
