Product overview
India is a large primary aluminium producer (Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Uttar Pradesh), and extruders across Gujarat, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and the north turn billet into profiles. EEPC reported aluminium and aluminium products exports of about US$6.2 bn for April-February FY2024-25 (all forms).
Extrusions are made to the buyer's die drawings for windows and doors, curtain walls, solar module frames and mounting rails, industrial T-slot profiles, heat sinks and transport. Buyers specify alloy and temper, tolerances (EN 755-9 / EN 12020), finish and length.
Trade policy is critical: profiles are CBAM goods in the EU and Section 232 aluminium articles in the US.
HS note: Hollow profiles of aluminium alloy are 7604.21; fabricated structures (windows, frames) 7610; heat sinks may be classed by function.

European Union
EU CBAM definitive period started 1 Jan 2026: importers bringing in more than 50 t/yr of CBAM goods must be authorised declarants and buy certificates (sales from Feb 2027) for embedded emissions - expect requests for installation-level emissions data from the Indian mill/foundry.
United States & Canada
USA: steel, aluminium and copper articles and listed derivatives pay Section 232 tariffs (copper semis 50% since 1 Aug 2025; an April 2026 proclamation modified how the metal 232 tariffs apply) - check whether the HTS line is on the derivative list before quoting. Non-232 lines pay MFN + 10% Section 301 (as of Oct 2026).
United Kingdom
UK-India CETA has been in force since 15 Jul 2026; claim preference with a CETA proof of origin (DCTS proofs are not interchangeable). The UK plans its own CBAM from 2027 (ASSUMPTION - check HMRC).
Gulf (GCC)
Facade and window fabricators in the GCC buy Indian profiles; India-UAE CEPA (in force 1 May 2022) gives preferential duty against a CEPA certificate of origin.

Do 6 m profiles fit in a 20' container?
No. A 20' box is about 5.9 m inside, so 6 m lengths need 40' containers.
Which finish is more durable outdoors?
Both anodising (20-25 µm) and quality powder coating (60-80 µm) are durable outdoors. Choose by look and the project specification.
